Linn Street Café
Fine Dining in Iowa City |
“We received unbelievable praise immediately after switching our coffee to Cafe del Sol Roasting. We were astounded by all the compliments we got the first week and continue to get every week. Cafe del Sol has greatly improved the quality of coffee we serve our customers, and they can tell.”
Frank Bowman,
Proprietor
Linn Street Café opened its doors in 1989 and earned a reputation for fine dining. In 1996 Frank and Abby Bowman purchased the café and put all their efforts into building on its tradition and raising the bar for overall excellence in the fine dining experience.
Described as eclectic and new American Cuisine, Linn Street Café is known for its international flavors married with the best of the Midwest. Iowa choice meats and seasonal produce from local farmers’ markets are featured ingredients on the menu along with a variety of seafood delivered daily from both coasts. Wine Spectator Magazine’s “Award of Excellence” has been bestowed on the café each year from 1998 to 2007 for their world class wine selection.
The Bowman’s commitment to the art of fine cuisine is evident in their choice of only the best products, hours of expert food preparation by their chef and kitchen staff, professional and friendly wait staff serving delicious & unique appetizers, entrees & desserts, matched with the perfect wine & our coffee, of course, in a white linen, stemware, flowers and candlelight ambience. No wonder the café has been voted Iowa City’s Best Romantic Dining establishment from 1999 to 2006 and received rave reviews in the Rachel Ray Magazine, Midwest Living Magazine and all the local newspapers.
Café del Sol Roasting is proud to be part of this Fine Dining in Iowa City.

“We have been using Cafe del Sol coffee since we opened and not a week goes by that a customer doesn't comment on the quality and freshness of the coffee. Working with these guys has been great. Customer service like you wouldn't believe and a great product.”
Matt Steigerwald,
Chef & Owner
Lincoln Cafe opened in July 2001 when Matt moved from the warmer climes of the south eastern US, where he was Chef at Helen’s in Richmond, VA, Vertigo in Raleigh, NC, Magnolia Grill in Durham, NC, and others.
Matt’s philosophy and guiding vision for his business is “Food Is Important”, and may I add, a great sense of humor, doesn’t hurt either! In 2006, “Better Homes & Gardens” wrote of Lincoln Café, “…big city flavors using local product and a lot of imagination.”
Lincoln Cafe’s menu changes frequently, reflecting Chef Matt’s interests and the freshness and availability of local and regional produce and products. The menu offers entrée specials which, just upon reading, stimulate your appetite in anticipation of a deliciously inspired meal. A small menu of sandwiches, salads, snacks and a daily appetizer is also available as well as a Sunday Brunch. Let’s not forget about their Lincoln Wine Bar! The Wine Bar can be a destination on its own, as well as a comfortable and tasty venue where you can enjoy wine or beer from their personally selected offerings while waiting for your table at the Cafe.
We’re proud to be included in Matt’s fine food and drink, as we agree, “Food Is Important”!

“Sourcing locally is very important to Devotay, in part because we believe in supporting the community that supports us. We buy our coffee, tea and tisanes from Café del Sol because it is always the freshest and best-tasting it can be. The beans are from sustainable, fair trade sources and are always roasted to very high, exacting specifications for robust flavor. We constantly get compliments on our coffee at Devotay”
