Café del Sol Roasting (CDSR) announces the spin-off of a new business. Vicki Mildenstein, co-owner of CDSR will be the sole owner and proprietor of the coffee shop in the newly remodeled and expanded Coralville Public Library.

In March the library invited CDSR to submit a proposal for the new library coffee shop. The proposal was unanimously approved by the Library Board and the Coralville City Council.

According to Alison Ames Galstad, Director of the Coralville Public Library, “Other libraries have successfully added coffee shops to their facilities. We have had requests from the community and our patrons to do the same. We believe Ms. Mildenstein will create a welcoming environment and contribute to the overall mission of the library for the community.”

“The space at the entrance of the library is perfect for a comfortable and convenient coffee shop,” says Ms. Mildenstein. “I’m honored to be part of the library and the growing Coralville Town Center
community. “

The menu will include CDSR coffee, coffee and espresso drinks, tea, soft drinks, fruit smoothies, baked goods and snacks. The shop will also cater the refreshment needs of meetings held in the library’s conference rooms. The hours will match those of the library at a minimum. Ms. Mildenstein is looking for input from the community on the desired hours of operation as well as menu items.

Special programs will be created to support community events, mesh with the library on “learning more” about topics relevant to coffee growing regions, coffee roasting, etc. and other activities and events of interest to the range of age groups which patronize the library. The coffee shop’s opening and further details will be announced in the near future.

Monday – Thursday: 10 am – 8:30 pm
Friday: 10 am – 6:00 pm
Saturday: 9 am – 4:30 pm
Sunday: Closed
